We had a lot of rain this winter. That meant grey skies – even more than are usual for Normandy. But now spring is here, and when the skies are clear they are an intense ceramic blue.
Today, the More Significant Other and I rode together for the first time in a while. Trish had been out at the monthly writers group meeting. I’d spent the morning working and catching up with projects. But it turned out we’d each had one eye on the sky, itching to get on our bikes.
It seemed important to take advantage of the light. Having been so deprived over winter, you can almost feel your body sucking it down – like water to someone who has just crossed the desert.
It wasn’t our longest ride, nor the most adventurous – just a local jaunt. But it was rejuvenating, reminding us of why we live here.
